Vehicle Checks – The Essential Ones

First of all, I would like to remind you that being safe while driving is the most important thing.

Some of the checks such as inspecting if your windows and mirrors are clean and other essential checks such as checking that your brakes are working should be done daily. You should also check that all lights and indicators are working, although if you drive a modern car, you don’t have to worry because most modern cars has some sort of instrument panel indicator light telling you that something is wrong.

Depending on the model of your car, you need to periodically check the engine oil, water level in the radiator, brake fluid level, battery, windscreen washer bottles. You can find exactly when you need to check and replace or refill these in your car’s manual (i.e. usually engine oil needs to be replaced every 10,000 miles).

Another important thing is to check the thread and pressure of your tyres, how often these checks should be done depends on how much you drive. For regular servicing, you will need to consult your car owner’s manual to see how often you should service your vehicle check. Most of these checks and repairs will have to be done manually, although if you need to inflate your tyres, I would suggest you to buy a car tyre inflator or some sort of car tyre compressor, because these things makes your life so much easier, if you do the maintenance checks by yourself. I recommend you to get a tyre inflator which uses power from the cigarette lighter socket, that way if you get a small tyre puncture on the road, and don’t carry the spare tyre with you, you can inflate your tyre so you can get to the nearest servicing station.
