Endosteal Implants

They’re a good option for patients who have healthy gums and sufficient bone in their jaw. The post fuses to your jawbone during a process called osseointegration. Once this has happened, your dentist can place an artificial crown on top of it to make it look and feel like a natural tooth.
Subperiosteal Implants
The second most common type of dental implant is a subperiosteal implant. This is a metal post that’s put in place on top of the bone but not in the jawbone itself. It doesn’t require the same time as endosteal implants for osseointegration to take place. However, this does mean that they aren’t as permanent as endosteal implants.
A lot of people choose this option because they are a less expensive alternative to a single-tooth implant. They’re also a more convenient option for patients who don’t have enough bone in their jaw to support the insertion of an endosteal implant.
Another option is a mini implant. These are smaller implants that are primarily used to stabilize lower dentures. They’re more affordable than traditional implants, and they can be done in one appointment.
They are usually made of titanium and can fend off tooth decay and gum disease better than traditional bridges. They also look more natural than a fixed bridge.
These can be a great choice for replacing a single tooth, but they’re also good for filling in gaps where a tooth has been removed from your mouth. They also prevent bone loss or shifts in the surrounding teeth that can cause your face to look older.
All-on-4
An All-on-4 system is a way of placing a full set of upper or lower replacement teeth on only 4 implants. Unlike traditional dentures, these implants don’t require a bone graft, so they can be done in one visit. The other benefit is that the procedure doesn’t involve removing adjacent teeth for support.
You can also opt for a hybrid bridge with an implant. This option has a metal post that’s attached to artificial teeth and it is secured by an abutment.
The abutment is made of a metal extension that connects the artificial teeth to the post. The abutment also serves as a spacer, so your false teeth will fit snugly on it and look natural.
Each of the three types of dental implants has its own benefits, so it’s important to speak with your dentist about which type is best for you. Your oral health, budget, and lifestyle are all factors that your dentist will consider when deciding which option to go with.
